automating import of smb.conf

I am attempting to automate the import of smb shares on my server. I have been able to automate the NFS by overwriting the /etc/exports.d/cockpit-file-sharing.exports on boot but when I overwrite the /etc/samba/smb.conf I still need to manually import the shares from the cockpit gui. Is there a cli command or a different file that cockpit is using to populate the smb list that I am missing? Any assistance it appreciated thanks!

ok turns out that this program uses smb net registry instead of just the smb.conf file. stumbled across this site that gave more details. https://www.samba.org/samba/docs/current/man-html/net.8.html. The command I was looking for is net conf import /etc/samba/smb.conf this will import your pre-populated smb.conf and this will refresh the cockpit plugin to show the new values, it even maps the advanced parameters. Hope this helps someone else!
