Crashes for the Google app caused by wrong email. #3
Comments
I of course tested this, but the assistant didn't even turn on when I changed the Gmail to my own; the "random" Gmail on the other hand works fine for me and a lot of other people. editing the current GSAPrefs file instead of replacing it may be a good idea, I'll look into it. May I ask you what rom are you using? |
Evolution X 4.4, for the Galaxy S10e. Behaviour was the same on 4.3 if you're wondering. |
Hmm, thanks for the feedback. This is definitely an issue that I know about and it needs to be addressed. Sadly, I wasn't very successful with my testing so far. |
I've tried just about everything I can think of to get this working, even adding the pixel exclusive flags to systemdata. Without any email it works, but as soon as I put in my email, and the Google app picks up the changed settings, the assistant ui breaks, but still listens in the background. |
My wild guess is that the Gmail account is bound to an actual Pixel phone. |
I found an nga xml that works. https://t.me/googlepixel4xml/120 I found it on this group. They have their own module that enables it. The xml itself is hosted on github https://github.com/Verknxt/assistantv2/ This works specifically on my OnePlus 7 Pro. |
As it turn out, using someone else's random email in the prefs file causes the Google app to force close, at least from my testing, as after I changed the email to my own one, the crashes stopped occuring.
Ideally you should avoid replacing the GSAPrefs file itself and should instead try editing it to correctly set only the flags needed for the NGA UI.
