Quick summary

When provisioning the SSL certificate via Calypso, it's only issued for the root domain and not for the www version of the domain.

Steps to reproduce

  1. You'll need to have a domain without an SSL certificate.
  2. Go to the domain settings page (https://wordpress.com/domains/manage/all/example.com/edit/example.com)
  3. Open the Domain Security section and click on the button to provision the certificate.

What you expected to happen

Have the SSL certificate issued for the root domain and the www version of the domain

What actually happened

The certificate was only issued for the root domain

Impact

Some (< 50%)

Available workarounds?

Yes, easy to implement

If the above answer is "Yes...", outline the workaround.

Provision the missing certificate for www via DARC (users will need to reach out to support for that).

👋🏻 @Automattic/nomado I just created this report, which is not the first time I have seen it. Today I came across from a migrated site that experienced this issue.
