"I wish the tooltip had a background of some sort so it was a bit more legible when mousing over points in a dense area of the scatterplot."

Where is the tooltip going? The tree? Something like this (link) could be cool too if we wanted to show more info that would fit in a small tooltip (i.e. something that expands when you click).
