thumbnails are not saved to a folder, is this possible too?

Not quite what you are after, but in the nrk fork we added a better http endpoint to get a thumbnail as part of the enhanced metadata. It might be sufficient for what you want #21 https://github.com/nrkno/tv-automation-media-scanner

We have other apps which can't receive the thumbnail data directly, but they can look in a directory.
