Abrupt lighting change #1578
Comments
This bug has existed in one form or another forever, I just confirmed that I can reproduce the problem without the OIT branch. I think it may be the same thing that causes #592. It's particular bad for translucent objects, which turn black or invisible when it happens. Here's the world covered in 1 degree slightly translucent brightly colored extents in 2D and CV modes. While it looks somewhat sunlightish, changing to different times has no effect. In CV mode, changing camera angle warps the dark streams to different areas. |
I'm not sure how directly related it is to this issue, but setting the appearance to 'flat' seems to have no affect on lighting in the above screenshots either. mailing list thread |
This was not fixed in #1680. |
not fixed ? |
There is no simple solution to this problem at this time (which is why this issue is still open). We have a longer term roadmap to refactor the lighting system but no ETA as to when it will happen. |
Closing as duplicate with #1825. |
Open the corridor Sandcastle example. Zoom in and tilt the view. The green corridor will appear to blink perhaps when it changes frustums?
Most likely OIT related. Compare to b26.
