Creating a citation file with your DOI from Zenodo

  1. Go to: https://citation-file-format.github.io/cff-initializer-javascript/
  2. Click "create"
  3. Add information about your software's title and your author list
  4. Click "Add More"
  5. Select "DOI" and add your identifier from Zenodo and click "done"
  6. Add other information, then click "finish" and download your file
  7. Add the CITATION.cff file to the main directory of your repository
  8. Return to Zenodo and click "upload" to access the record you started to reserve your DOI
  9. Add your source code with your CFF file to the record and fill in the rest of the fields
  10. Hit publish when you are ready
  11. Add the Zenodo Shield to your repository by clicking on the shield on your record and copying the markdown into your README

*You can generate new DOIs by creating versions of the same record with additional citation files followng new releases
