I. Introduction (Verse 1)
- God is our refuge and strength
- A very present help in trouble
II. God’s Power over Creation (Verses 2-3)
- The earth may change and the mountains may be moved
- But God is steadfast and immovable
- Even if the earth trembles and the waters roar
- We will not fear because God is with us
III. The City of God (Verses 4-5)
- There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God
- God is in the midst of the city, it shall not be moved
- God will help it when morning dawns
- The nations rage and kingdoms totter
- But God’s voice brings desolation to the enemies of the city
IV. God’s Presence and Power (Verses 6-8)
- The Lord of hosts is with us
- The God of Jacob is our fortress
- Come, behold the works of the Lord
- He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth
V. Exhortation to Be Still and Know God (Verse 10)
- Be still, and know that I am God
- I will be exalted among the nations
- I will be exalted in the earth
VI. Conclusion (Verse 11)
- The Lord of hosts is with us
- The God of Jacob is our fortress
