Is this project dead?

v0.1.0 came out with quite a bit of excitement and fanfare, but there's been no release since then.

Is there any expectations for when the next release might drop? I see that commits are still being made to the repo, and I'd like to calibrate my expectations for frequencies of releases.

This project is very much alive! You can look at our milestones to track progress. This particular milestone is relatively large in size so that is why we haven’t made a release for a while. We are nearing completion of this milestone so you can expect a release within a month or so. Keep in mind that this is an open source project so all work on this is done on a volunteer basis. If you are unhappy with the rate at which we are progressing, we welcome your contribution!

Thanks for the update! In many open source projects I've observed, there's priority given to releasing early and often, but perhaps this project prefers larger releases every so often?

All good — just wasn't sure where to look for progress!

I'm not unhappy with the rate of progress, just eager to see more of its ideas come into fruition. I would be happy to contribute, but I don't write code! 🫣

No worries, there are other ways you can help. Spread the word about CodeEdit on social media and get involved on our community Discord server. We are always looking for feedback. You can also join our weekly meetups on Saturdays at 3pm UTC.

You are also correct in pointing out that many projects prioritize releasing early and often. That is a goal of ours as well something we plan to discuss in our upcoming meetup. We realize this release is taking far too long and adjustment is necessary to reach this goal.

Out of curiosity, if you don't write code, what is your interest in a project like ours with the purpose of writing code? It's never too later to learn!
