Help setting up GPIO and OneWire

EKNYESE please provide the following information so we can get your installation working:

Run the command id and put the result in code fences like this

Run the command ls -lha in the folder you cloned MQTTany into (default /opt/mqttany) and put the result in code fences like above.

Put the contents of the service file you setup to have MQTTany start at boot (should be /etc/systemd/system/mqttany.service) in code fences like this

some more infos:

sudo addgroup --system wire
addgroup: Die Gruppe »wire« existiert bereits als Systemgruppe. Programmende.

sudo usermod -aG wire mqttany
usermod: Benutzer »mqttany« ist nicht vorhanden.

Ok so you're going to want to choose the user openhabian to keep things simple. The group wire exists already so skip the first command to create it, just run the second one and replace mqttany with openhabian.

I also see you added that user to the service file, you will also need to remove the # from the beginning of both lines so the system knows what user to run it as.

The ls - lha command I need run in the folder you installed MQTTany to, if you followed the instructions and used the suggested folder you need to run cd /opt/mqttany to get there.

I will get back to you with some other commands to find out why MQTTany is not able to access your GPIO when I am not on my phone.

@EKNYESE here are the commands I need you to run:

This will add the user openhabian to the group wire so it can access One Wire devices.

sudo usermod -aG wire openhabian

Show me the result of this command. This will help get GPIO working by checking if the older interface is hogging the pins.

ls -lh /sys/class/gpio

And lastly to fix your service file run

sudo nano /etc/systemd/system/mqttany.service

change these lines:

#User=openhabian
#Group=openhabian

to this:

User=openhabian
Group=openhabian

Then hit Ctrl+O then Ctrl+X to save and exit.
Finally run this command to load the updated file:

sudo systemctl daemon-reload
