Currently it is possible to configure the port and hostname of the datadog trace agent. However the protocol is currently hard coded to http
This works for most people. I have an edge case where I have datadog agent running in front of a SSL-terminating load balancer and some services hit the datadog agent through this load balancer. In order for the client to be able to connect to the datadog agent's trace endpoint through the LB, we would like to make it possible to set https as the protocol.
