Dissertation template

This Pandoc+LaTeX template is adapted from dissertate. This repository provides the files needed to support production and typesetting of a PhD dissertation. You write in Pandoc (a Markdown variant), sprinkle LaTeX wherever you see fit, and end up with a nice PDF. You'll also get a Word file of each chapter for sharing with those unfamiliar with LaTeX. The code currently supports NYU, Harvard and Princeton, though it can easily be adapted to meet the requirements of other schools.

Getting started

  1. Install the default font, EB Garamond. The files are provided under fonts/.
  2. The DiDy color is set by default in dissertate.cls lines 190-191.
  3. Personalize the document by filling out your name and all the other info in the file frontmatter/personalize.md.
  4. Build your dissertation with build.command, located in the scripts directory (e.g., you can cd into the main directory and then run ./scripts/build.command).
