  • I'm submitting a ...
    • bug report
    • feature request
    • something else/not sure

The suggestion here is the ability to add several channels in a Discord server where Ducks can spawn, without being individualized stats and so per channel, yet a more global game, this would be very beneficial in some points I'll explain in the next point, for now here's the idea:

  • Having an option to add channels only for Duck Spawning
  • The add_channel would be the channel where the bot itself would be, and where commands would be executed. Behavior: Channel 1 is main bot channel > Duck Spawns on Channel 2 > Users will hunt the Duck on Channel 1.
  • The reason for segregating the commands to a channel is because it would allow for global ducks without the concern of command spam or disruption of chat flows.
  • With this approach, stats would still be global in a way because it all ties to a single-channel still, just with ducks spawning in multiple places.
  • To prevent confusion the bot by itself could delete/edit the duck spawning in other channels once the duck is RIP.
  • If you are suggesting something, how is this better?
  1. It would improve activity on a Discord server! While as it is, it makes users just pay attention to that X channel where Ducks will spawn, what harms discussion flow a bit, if ducks can spawn globally everyone could play the game just by chatting in the Discord.
  2. With this approach, spam wouldn't be a concern! Focusing commands for the bot in one channel, and global duck spawning in multiple channels.
  3. With this approach it would be more balanced and fair to all users, not forcing one user to camp a chat channel to get involved with this game and have a chance at it!

That's all from me!

Good Idea thanks for contributing.

I recently removed (in DHV2->DHV3) the global_scores parameter.

I understand that what you want is not the same thing as the previous global scores, and I could add it if there is sufficient interest for the feature, because that implies a lot of edge cases given the current way ducks and messages are handled.

So, for now, I'll tag your issue as needs feedback and start a poll on the support server to see if people are interested.

Oh okay then ;),

I don't think vote would work out well, because as for the players they would go with what's easier for them (camping a specific channel) and this idea kinda more meant for how a server owner would likely view it (increasing activity through a discord server and balancing out chances of more people to get able to play as well), kinda two different spectrums there. hmmm

On the contrary, it's a good way to gauge whether there is any interest. It doesn't have to be a majority voting for it, just a significant enough margin to make it a possibility. Most people don't make use of the majority of the settings, but they're still options that some people do use.

Vote results for now - I'll probably do it then

I'm in a server with several people playing this game and we want a global feature for a different reason. We don't care if you type the command in multiple channels we just want to be able to have a global inventory so if my gun gets confiscated in 1 channel it's confiscated in all of them. The reason for this is because if I'm playing across 5-10 channel it won't take long for me to forget which channel my gun was confiscated in especially if multiple people are playing.

What would be the reason for multiple channels over one with more ducks ? Kinda curious...

For me? We just have multiple Discord bots in the servers so we have multiple channels so that people can play without messing up someone else playing another bot.
