WhatWaf and XMR
Whatwaf is created by a small team of infosec enthusiasts and developers along with people from the OpenSource Community. Now whatwaf does not require very many funds for research and development due to most of the information being readily available online (WAF code, WAF names, etc).
However, some of the detection systems we come into contact with need to be purchased in order to be fully analyzed to the best of our abilities. This is where you come in, as of WhatWaf version 2.0 there is an optional XMR CPU mining tool built into it. It uses xmrig and automatically installs it for you (Windows support is not functional yet and you will be told this upon attempting from a Windows system). Now CPU mining isn't very efficient, and is also not very fast, but xmrig also has support for GPU mining as well, so if you have a GPU it will use that as well.
XMR mining from WhatWaf is completely optional, you don't have to do it, you don't have to care about it, nor do you even have to acknowledge it. You will however get a minor warning when starting without the mining procedure that "you can earn money while using whatwaf by passing the
-M flag, see the help page for details
". When you pass the -M/--mine
flag it will start a mining procedure and download xmrig onto your system, from there it will compile it, and install it, and request you for your XMR wallet address.
When you start the program with the mining flag the current time of the program is calculated. From there it runs (installs if it needs to) and starts the miner. The miner sleeps for 15 seconds to provide time for it to start. After everything is done and whatwaf has done it's job the miner is killed and the stop time is calculated.
The algorithm to calculate the time is end - start - 15 * 0.35
the 15 is the seconds waited so that the miner starts successfully, and the 0.35
is the dev fee. Basically for every 100 milliseconds that whatwaf is ran, we will mine 35 miliseconds for us.
THIS WILL NOT MAKE VERY MUCH MONEY and seeing how this is just for a few cents here and there to contribute to whatwaf development team, you can also donate to us if you would like, our XMR wallet is 82a4pbZwhayhgzJRCWAQPPBwk6oTBcKekbxCHLLsTYWLFyvZQY5jHnHbqb7fRpSosnLzow3sEJAjZJmMt9zEZnrQ3QJGgHf
