We should be able to handle these like normal data files. Kedro gives metrics different defintions to distinguish them from regular data files. Plots we will have to distinguish by type in the list of supported data files.
DVC allows "non-cached" metrics and plots. We can omit these in a first implementation. It does point out the utility of attach other metadata to data (as well as nodes and pipelines) in kedro.

In beta experiment tracking support, kedro allows metrics and plots to be included in the data catalog. (Metrics are tagged separately, plots are included among other dataset definitions.)
In DVC, metric and plots are declared as part of stage definitions.
