Related to #335.

Sooner or later, we'll have to migrate to .NET Framework 4.7 or a later version.

There are certain things left in code to be compatible with older versions of .NET, and they should be cleaned up after the migration.

Look for TODO[#338] when closing this issue.

According to the current information from the lifecycle document, 4.6.2 will go out of support on 2027-01-12. Quite a long time!
