We need benchmarks for a few reasons:

Identify regressions
Compare agaisnt std::future<>

Writing regressions benchmarks in synchronous mode is easy enough, but that's not going to be very representative.

Not quite sure how to tackle this yet, If anyone wants to step up to the plate, it would be appreciated.
