Classic Controller (and Classic Controller Pro) L and R buttons aren't working

i have an official wii classic controller and classic controller pro, and neither L and R buttons are working in moonlight wiiu.
i know the buttons work because i can navigate menus just fine on my wiiu.
when i connect them to my pc, the ZL and ZR buttons become the bumpers, and L and R do nothing when they should be the triggers i'm guessing?
i have the gamepad enabled as P1, if that messes with it.

also, if it's possible, could you make the classic pro's buttons use ZL and ZR as the triggers instead since analog triggers aren't supported on the pro? i know the console can tell between a classic and classic pro, since wiinupro/wiinusoft and 8bitdo's adapter can tell when synced to a wiimote.
