This repository contains materials for a hands on example for the Effective Visual Communication Webinar.
- Purpose_Worksheet.docx is a partially completed Purpose Worksheet setting up the purpose for the visualization exercise.
This example pulls from Wolf et al. NEJM 2020; 383:944-957 https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa2002787, which describes the results of a Phase 2 study of Capmatinib in Non Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC) patients with MET mutations.
Situation:
- A Phase 2 study was conducted to evaluate the safety and efficacy of Capmatinib (a selective inhibitor of the MET receptor) in patients with advanced NSCLC and MET exon 14 skipping mutations and MET amplifications
- Data available include tumor percent change from baseline, mutation category, RECIST criteria, and progression free survival
- Primary endpoint was overall response (complete or partial response). Clinically relevant efficacy was defined as >= 35% in previously treated patients (with 95% CI > 25%) and >= 55% in patients not previously treated (with 95% CI > 35%)
- Secondary endpoint was duration of response
Question:
- Does Capmatinib show meaningful response in patients with various types of MET mutation?
Please consult Wolf 2020 for further details on the background, purpose, summary data, and key messages. This will help you with Step 1 (have a clear purpose), Step 2 (show the data clearly) and Step 3 (make the message obvious)
The Purpose Worksheet is intended to help with Step 1 of Effective Visual Communication (i.e., have a clear purpose). For this exercise, we have partially completed the Purpose_Worksheet for you, based on the background information above. Review the partially completed worksheet, make any changes you wish, and complete what hasn’t been filled in.
Step 2 of Effective Visual Communication involves you choosing what data to display and how, in order to support the Purpose. Please see the Wolf 2020 for figures and tables summarizing the key results which you can pull from for your visualization. Figure 2 in the publication is the primary visualization that was supplied to summarize the Phase 2 results. You may decide to improve this figure, or create your own based on other data in the publication in order to support the purpose.
