It would be nice if WHOIS error messages were a little more verbose, giving us a better idea of what happened that caused the error.

Do you see anything related to this error in your server logs? What is the exact scenario that you are addressing in this issue?

Sorry, I changed jobs and no longer am an active user, so I can't test it =(
But if I remember correctly, this was about trying a WHOIS and getting errors. One time, the problem was with proxy configuration that wouldn't allow Graylog to reach whois sites. Another, it was being rejected for over using. Problem was: the error is generic, it doesn't specify what happened to cause error.
