Navigation tree: add option to hide items

With a growing number of items in the navigation tree, things get a bit crowded there. It would be super nice to be able to hide items individually or in bulk, and have an option to show everything that's hidden. This would apply to both the navigation tree and the dialog for choosing datasets.
