I just wanted to thank you for making this project, it's an amazing project and made tremendous improvements to my Hackintosh :) Im currently running it on 5800H APU so the performance wasn't that good at the begging, there was slow app launches and general performance wasn't that good, enabling extreme preset made the whole system much much more fluid and apps launch pretty quickly. Again thanks a ton for the work, and I hope you find this inspirational to continue doing good work on this project and many more in the future! :)))) |

Our Future Vision for UXTU4Unix
A new journey begins
30/01/2024: To celebrate my birthday, I embarked on a unique and creative project inspired by UXTU. Determined to bring this idea to life, I began developing a version of UXTU for macOS, initially named RielUXTU4Mac (now UXTU4Unix). On the same day, I released the first version along with four subsequent updates to fix bugs and add basic functionalities.
31/01/2024: Version 0.0.6 marked a significant update for RielUXTU4Mac, introducing a new CLI interface and additional features.
04/02/2024: Version 0.0.9 brought notable changes, including renaming the project to UXTU4Mac and moving it under the new organisation, AppleOSX.
23/02/2024: Version 0.1.0 was another major update for UXTU4Mac, featuring dependency installation on macOS, preset applications from available presets, bug fixes, and more.
Advancing GUI Development
02/02/2024: We began developing our first prototype GUI for macOS using Flutter.
05/03/2024: Our first GUI prototype now supports Logs and Custom sections.
09/03/2024: Version 0.2.0 introduced Dynamic Mode, reworked settings, bug fixes, and more.
24/03/2024: Version 0.2.4 was a substantial update, with all presets from UXTU ported to UXTU4Mac. This version included detection logic for specific CPU or APU hardware, enhancing UXTU4Mac to become a more complete version of UXTU for macOS.
Expanding to Linux
13/04/2024: I began porting UXTU4Mac (now UXTU4Unix) to Linux, starting with Ubuntu and Fedora.
14/04/2024: Version 0.2.8 added support for Linux (tested on Debian-based distros and Fedora) and renamed UXTU4Mac to UXTU4Unix.
12/05/2024: Version 0.3.0 introduced support for detecting the correct CPU/APU to select the appropriate preset using
dmidecode
for both macOS and Linux.14/05/2024: Due to changes in the logic for CPU detection and preset selection, NotchApple1703 realised that the old logic in our prototype GUI couldn't handle the new CPU detection and operation across both macOS and Linux. This necessitated a complete refactor of the repository.
Project Structure
The project now comprises three main parts:
The refactoring process is time-consuming due to limited spare time, but I assure you it will be completed eventually.
02/07/2024: The AppleOSX organisation has been renamed to HorizonUnix to reflect our vision for future projects.
Looking Ahead
Despite encountering numerous bugs and compatibility issues, we are committed to resolving them. We envision UXTU4Unix becoming a beacon of hope for Unix OS users, providing an experience comparable to the original UXTU. We look forward to the future!
Thank you for following our journey. We hope you continue to support UXTU4Unix as we strive to make it the best it can be.
