I'm working on integrating windIO into a project and have some updates that I'd like to suggest back to this repository. In catching up with the latest commits here, I noticed that pull requests are merged into both the main and develop branches, and currently the latest commit on main is more recent than on develop. Is there guidance on which branch is considered the most up to date?

Also, I didn't see guidance for developers who are interested in interacting with the repository. If this hasn't been decided yet, I'm happy to propose a basic CONTRIBUTING.md file with some guidance from my own experience. See GitHub's guidelines for more info. I think this would ease the barrier to entry to working with windIO.
