Expected Behavior

Point users who want to start developing Icinga 2 patches to this guide.

Current Behavior

A mix of doc/*development.md and INSTALL.md and https://github.com/Icinga/icinga2/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md#contributing-patches-source-code

Possible Solution

Include details for development environments on

  • Linux (CentOS, Ubuntu LTS)
  • Windows
  • macOS

Might add additional hints on macOS homebrew/macports

Allow to build macOS apps - https://blog.kitware.com/creating-mac-os-x-packages-with-cmake/ or add homebrew/macports manifests.
