It's a shame that the 2 options you have when selecting icons at configuration is either full blast all icons everywhere all the time, and no icons never, none, nada.
Describe the solution you'd like
Either a 3rd compromise option with the more useful icons are kept on and the more frivolous ones off. Or splitting the icons into more than one group. You could then turn on icons for folder substitutions, and turn on icons for git, but leave off OS icons and other icons through separate toggles for each icon group.
Additional context
Of course, I understand some of this can be mitigated through manual configuration, but I'd still argue a better option or default would be useful out of the gate.

FWIW, I have this set in my config.fish; set -g tide_left_prompt_items pwd git character
Which, when running lean prompt, removes the os icon.
You can run echo $tide_left_prompt_items to see which ones you have and then copy paste, and remove the one(s) you want.
