Device/Software Info:
Device: Huawei p20 pro
Model: CLT-L09 (Dual Sim)
Rom: Stock
Build No.: 10.0.0.201 (C432E8R1P3) GPU Turbo
EMUI-Version: 10.0.0
Android Version: 10

FakeStandby Version: 1.3.2
Source: F-Droid

Issue:

  • Start FakeStandby
  • Activate FakeStandby
  • Stop FakeStandby by 4-Touch or Swipe
= Upper Part of the screen stays black, doesnt react to touches. As if FakeStandby is still active on the upper part of the screen (rougly 2/3s of the screen stay black)

Auto-Rotate in my phone is active, altouh i dont think it is something like the app being shown in landscape while the phone is in portrait, as the black bar is taking up more height than the screen is wide and its not reacting to swipe or 4-finger-touch.

I have massive issues with my phone where it cant wake up once its "truly" locked, thats why i cant provide screenshots etc

Try to press both volume buttons and hold them very long. This will eventually force a reboot and you can operate you phone again.

thanks for the input, but this will not work for me, as the screen does turn of when rebooting, causing the very strong possibility not to wake up again for a long time. im using FakeStandby to keep my phone (or probably my GPU) to always send a signal, thus never really turning off the display.

for example, yesterday i got a voice message, put the phone to my ear to listen to it, the proximity sensor triggered, screen went black, never came back and is still not coming back to this moment (14hrs later).

(if youre interested why im putting up with this: im in hospital for a extended period of time, so options are very limited at the moment. i barely have edge-connection in my room, but in a specific corner of the room i get like 80mbit/s, so my primary phone is in the corner with the wifi hotspot turned on, so my notebook can have decent internet access and im using my secondary phone (the p20 with broken screen) to do phone stuff.)

EDIT:
not sure if your method would work, as the volume is a rocker, not 2 separate buttons. Holding power for 10secs will trigger a restart for me. but thats depending on the phone i guess
