I'm getting this weird error when importing CairoMakie:

What are the packages in the env you are activating, and what are the packages in your global env? I'm not sure where ProtoBuf is coming from.

Please paste what pkg> st -m returns when you start Julia, and after you run using DrWatson; quickactivate(@__DIR__)

One thing I noticed is that even though TestExt failed to precompile, everything works anyway: there are no more errors, CairoMakie (which, I suppose, uses TranscodingStreams under the hood?) works fine. But when I rm -rf Julia's cache folder, I get the above error during precompilation.

It is better to start Julia directly in the environment you want to use, with julia --project instead of using using DrWatson; quickactivate(@__DIR__), though the error you are getting is very strange. I only get a warning like:

  2 dependencies precompiled but different versions are currently loaded. Restart julia to access the new versions

when I try to reproduce this issue.

It prevents loading incorrect versions of packages, incase the local environment has a different version of one of DrWatson's dependencies compared to the global environment.

yeah i wish @quickactivate was in Pkg, but so far I've faced resistance without reason trying to put it there. I will try again in the future though.
