If someone wants to take a stab at it, might be nice to the IO-related contracts to http://julia.readthedocs.org/en/latest/manual/interfaces/.

I would like to work on the issue? How do I start?

Hi @souravsingh! The first place to look, if you haven't already, is CONTRIBUTING.md. There are some guidelines there about improving Julia's documentation. If you're having trouble figuring out what to do from those instructions, don't hesitate to ask for help - we'd love to find ways to improve those docs too. If you have style/correctness questions, maybe the best thing to do would be to make a pull request with what you have so far, mark it [WIP] (work in progress) and [RFC] (request for comment) in the title of the PR, and people can take a look.
