According to https://github.com/JuliaLang/juliaup/blob/main/README.md#path-used-by-juliaup, juliaup will nowadays always use ~/.julia as its depot path unless overridden by its own env var JULIAUP_DEPOT_PATH. In particular, this means it will not respect JULIA_DEPOT_PATH.

Currently, juliapkg expects the older behavior and looks for juliaup metadata in JULIA_DEPOT_PATH, if set. This leads to not finding julia versions installed with juliaup if JULIA_DEPOT_PATH is set away from its default.
