Antialiasing issue with gliphs on several pixel sizes

I don't know how google font versioning aligns with releases, but somewhere between v12 and v24 (Google Fonts timeline) glyphs lost some crispness in some sizes. I pointed some, but not all (for example, almost all letters is blurred in 16px). Is it possible to repair?

Google updated engine to v26 and so I updated codepen. But the problem, unfortunately, still there.
