Since updating today, authentication of my existing user fails from both Thunderbird on desktop and DAVx5 on Android. Previous authentication logs would look like:

Jan 11 17:13:47 caldav-carddav radicale[363]: [363/Thread-3400 (process_request_thread)] [INFO] Successful login: 'me'
Jan 11 17:13:47 caldav-carddav radicale[363]: [363/Thread-3400 (process_request_thread)] [INFO] REPORT response status for '/me/c744a08f-a864-3bc7-44e9-5e06c67a38fa/' with depth '1' in 0.010 seconds: 207 Multi-Status

and now login attempts look like:

Jan 11 19:03:32 caldav-carddav radicale[362]: [362/Thread-36 (process_request_thread)] [INFO] Successful login: 'me' -> 'm' (e)
Jan 11 19:03:32 caldav-carddav radicale[362]: [362/Thread-36 (process_request_thread)] [INFO] Access to '/me/7cbc3555-a44a-d705-48f6-bcd4115bfcb0/' denied for 'm'

I'm using radicale_dovecot_auth as my authentication type. No changes have been made other than the package upgrade on arch, and diffing the new default config file doesn't seem to indicate new needed configs.

If there's more info needed I'm happy to collect it, thanks.

radicale_dovecot_auth is a 3rd party authentication plugin, not supported by upstream and potentially even obsolete because native supported was added in 3.3.1 .

So either switch to built-in or file bug to 3rd party plugin.

Thanks for the explanation. Sorry about the misdirected issue, I forgot that my setup was using a third party auth plugin.

I've switched to the built-in dovecot auth with a change to allow a network connection to dovecot as my existing setup uses: #1678
