Imagine an electric supermini like the Peugeot e-208 with a 60 kWh LFP battery, 460 km range, fast charge from 10 to 80 % in 10 minutes, V2L capability and cost less than 20.000 euros - without subsidies. Who would buy its gas counterparts? The technology to build this hypothetical electric car already exists. Since the introduction of module-less and cobalt-free battery packs years ago, electric cars can be cheaper to produce than their gas counterparts. This is a top secret formula that is kept away from legacy carmakers by evil Chinese companies that write their press releases in plain English. I guess that when Chinese carmakers start producing their EVs in Europe and North America, legacy carmakers will eventually pay good money to learn this top secret trick to produce good and affordable electric cars. Unless, legacy carmakers already know how to produce them, but don't want to. It can't be... can it? |
