Great summary Max! I remember the time when Chinese automakers only made extremely ugly cars, those days are long gone, it was worth hiring European designers. The Dongfeng Nammi 01 looks really good and gives smart brand vibes. Unfortunately, in Europe you only have so many electric cars to choose from if you want them to be big and expensive. The BYD Seagull (Dolphin Mini) will likely dominate the market when it finally arrives. Finally, I remember the days when we Europeans made fun of North Americans because they were brainwashed into buying big cars (and everything else), but the same thing happened to us. Will Dacia Spring’s competitors in China come to Europe?
The Dacia Spring is the by far most affordable battery-electric vehicle on sale in Europe, typically starting under €20,000. It was also Europe’s 9th bestselling battery-electric vehicle (BEV) in 2023, registering almost 60,000 units. Where are the Dacia Spring’s competitors? The legacy auto brands are for the most part refusing to make affordable BEVs, so what’s available in China, and will it come to Europe?
Dacia Spring Dacia is owned by Renault Group, and the Spring is made in China by Renault’s local partner Dongfeng.
