Automatic skip of a certain part of the Song-Editor #709
Comments
I really think you should learn LMMS more before suggestion enhancements. You could for example automate that automation track off and then on again? It will turn gray when it is off... If you were talking about the tempo, automate it! And if you were talking about something else, either automate it or ask again 😄 Perhaps unrelated, but in case you need it: If you click on the end of an auto pattern or B&B pattern and then hold Ctrl you can fine resize it. |
I think it's possible that you @Sti2nd misunderstand what is being asked here... If I understand it correctly, what @DarkFlameSquirrel is asking for is a possibility to modify the light/dark colour patterns that divide the project in pieces of 4 bars. I'm not sure if we're ever going to implement quite that granular control of the background colours. However we have talked about a reworking of the whole time signature system, and that could indirectly at least partially solve this issue... |
Ooh, yes I misunderstood. I had absolutely no clue what he were asking actually 🍭 |
This is a feature most DAWs could benefit from and I've never seen it done properly. In live performances, it is not uncommon to break time signature briefly, or lead into a time signature with a fraction of a measure. Most sequencers assume the composer is working within a specific time signature and don't really flow well with the breaks. Or at least don't have a way of fixing any offsets this break has created. To do something like this currently (as the OP describes), the entire project ends up being off by a few bars to accommodate the break, or in some tracks with a small lead-in, the composer may leave blank the first 3 bars and perhaps use a loop point to start the song at the right position to keep the track aesthetically aligned with the time signature markers. |

This would be SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!!!!!! Sometimes we put in little extra bits in the song that throw the rest of the patterns off their Song-Editor background color arrangement. I'm not entirely sure how to explain that but I hope you catch my drift. So that way if I put in a small buildup that takes up like 2 bars, I could have LMMS completely skip 2 bars after so the rest of the patterns in my song complies with the colors in the song editor. It would make mental counting way less confusing. And maybe have the whole skipped vertical section greyed out to easily indicate a skip no matter how up or down you scrolled. I want this so bad man.
