How could the content be improved?

Provide instructor notes based on feedback from instructors who have taught the lesson.

Lesson facilitation tips:

  • This lesson does not account for introduction time. If teaching this lesson as a standalone, allot additional time for Library Carpentry and other introductions
  • If teaching with two instructors, split lessons at 1-6, 7-10, if teaching in multiple segments, split ...
  • Provide hour ahead of lesson to support MarcEdit installation/troubleshooting
  • If teaching online, emphasize that a second screen is ideal for this workshop
  • Opening a zoom breakout room at the start is helpful for troubleshooting as required

Also add instructor note to tasks: Tasks are not sorted in alphabetical order, but you can sort them yourself

Proxy adding task https://librarycarpentry.org/lc-marcedit/08-tasks-and-automation.html#add-a-proxy-to-the-856-40u-in-your-task add more explicit instruction for instructors on removing existing proxies, give lesson that covers it and give pause to ensure that learners have done this step

For working with Marc files, review last callout on preferences and add instructor notes: worth nothing that some preference updates will force MarcEdit to restart and others will not. Also note that in order for some preference changes to display (such as updating the MarcEditor font settings), you will need to close and reopen the MarcEditor, which would require saving your file if you haven't done so.
