Manual Selection of icons doesn't work

Hi, I am using Nova as my main launcher. If I want to manually select an icon for an app or a link, nothing happens. The icon is not accepted

I'm aware of this issue but unfortunately I have no idea why this is happening. I opened an issue for this on candybar (zixpo/candybar#185)

Similar issue. Using OnePlus 12r with oxygen os 15. Stock launcher. Latest app version.
So If I want to change the icon for an app .. say Odialer, while editing the icon I would get a collection 20-50 icon, none of them remotely close to a phone/dialer icon, it's all random.

You can definetly search it on the app, bookmark it etc, but cannot use it when changing individual icons from the from screen.
Wish It would have a search option while applying.
