Description

The decision was reached among CCPP developers to rename CCPP suites to have non-descriptive names. This will be done for several reasons, which are outlined in detail in this presentation.

Solution

Guidelines have been added to CCPP technical documentation here.

  • Suites will be renamed to non-meaningful names (using bird names initially)
  • A descriptive comment will be added to all suite files.
  • An alias file “alias.json” will be included for reference.

Alternatives

Keep current naming conventions, with all the downsides outlined in the above presentation. This is not desired.

Testing:

This is a simple change to file names and documentation. While it will touch a large number of files, tests and results will not change.
