Only the GTA games? No other game is affected?
This is certaintly strange. Specially if the brightness plugin is the only installed plugin.

I had the same issue, but I don't believe it's an error with ARK-4. Instead, it's likely caused by the plugin. The Brightness plugin causes crashes in all GTA franchise games and some other specific games, such as Toukiden Kiwami. I recommend replacing this plugin with Bright3 or disabling it before launching a game that's incompatible.

the plugin itself doesnt work

Do not use both plugins together. Remove the Brightness plugin from your console and keep only Bright3. During installation via ARK-4, select the 'always' option, restart the VSH, and try again.

If you want to follow a tutorial, I recommend this one.

P.S.: If you're trying to increase or decrease the brightness using the L + R + arrow up/down combination, it doesn't really work, at least not on my console. What Bright3 allows is adding extra brightness levels by pressing the screen button. You can manually edit the brightness levels and percentages in the bright3.ini file.
