When playing with my Polaris era AMD RX 580 Card on linux the shadows cast by the Sunlight are only visible at the very edges but not on the overall geometry. Just to be sure i have tested this behaviour on WoP 1.6.2 and on a different Linux Distro ( Linux Mint ) to make sure if the Issue prevails. It does.
After that i tried to turn on the dynamic shadows on my Laptop , running with Manjaro Linux , with an Nvidia GPU. It displayed there without any problems.
I not sure what the cause of this is.
Do have anyone else experienced similar issues with an Polaris era AMD RX Graphics card?
I'm running Fedora 40 on the Gnome DE with the 6.11.5-200.fc40.x86_64 Linux-Kernel and Wayland as my Compisitor.
What was tested? :
Testing the shadows on the recent codebase ( on RX 580 ) - shadows broken
Testing the shadows with WoP 1.6.2 ( on RX 580 ) - shadows broken
Testing the shadows on the recent codebase with Linux Mint 22 (from the Live-USB-Stick on the RX 580 ) - shadows broken
Testing the shadows on the recent codebase on my Laptop (on Nvidia GT 840m) - Works flawlessly.
How to reproduce :
Make sure to have a system with a polaris era graphics card ( AMD RX 5.. series)
start the game and turn sunlight on.
shadows should ( or could? ) appear broken.
