Our current battery setup is fairly scuffed. We have ~15,000mAh which is enough, but our battery design can be improved.

Current Issues:

  • Battery has to be charged with the variable power supply and alligator clips
  • We have 3 BMSs when we only really need one

Todo:

Multiple options:

  1. Two guys from FSAE offered to make a battery for us. Theirs looked really nice with a metal enclosure, had the same capacity, was smaller and could charge with USB-c. If we spec and source the materials then they may be able to make it for us.
  2. Design our own in-house battery. Would be a great experience, and we can always ask for advice with the process.
  3. Buy a commercial battery pack?

Battery Requirements:

  • >12,000 mAh
  • Battery Management System for charging
  • Can be used to supply 3.3v and likely 5-8.4v for servos (voltage conversion will be on PCB)
  • Ideally lighter and denser than our current setup

Optional:

  • Battery charge monitor (either display or software accessible)
  • Water resistant enclosure
