I came into this school a bit lost and choosing a field that I had no prior knowledge left me completely blind. At the start everything was so foreign to me the content of my classes the people and especially the atmosphere. I spent little time with my colleagues working in the lab because I felt I didn’t belong, it seemed everyone else had prior experience or were wicked smart. I wasn’t involved in any extracurriculars related to computer science such as acm, and worst of all I didn't understand the importance. As a senior I have realized that the time you have now is your most valuable resource, who you choose to surround yourself and how you decide to spend your time ultimately will decide your future. By getting involved and eventually enveloped into the community, my productivity and knowledge base had increased ten fold. The students in this program truly are wells of knowledge. Especially the upperclassmen, I personally would not have made it this far without the help from the people around me. Speaking of acm, the club has made leaps and bounds since I was a freshman, activities such as focus groups and a hackathon highlight our purpose. To consistently learn and grow from one another ultimately to excel and progress. This semester I signed up for eight different focus groups ran by different students, and I can not wait for everything I'm going to learn this year.
