As above, the explicitly defined Full Screen Video Device is ignored if set to HDMI 2 unless OpenGL is used.

Setup:

  • The version 1 Pi 4 is connected to a desktop monitor and a tv. Both resolutions are set to 1920x1080 with 60hz refresh rate.
  • The monitor is set as the Primary display
  • Audio works on both via selecting output
  • System is fully up to date
  • Both monitor and TV work fine for everything except video
  • Full screen on the monitor works fine with VLC
  • Anything not full screen on the tv also works with VLC
  • I plan to use it as a web browser when using the monitor, but I wanted to also use it as a dvd player/media center on the tv. I know Kodi has issues with full screen on second display so I was trying to get VLC working
  • I have not changed any of the graphics drivers from how they come with the most recent image

When Full Screen on the TV (HDMI 2), the video actually plays on the monitor (HDMI 1), with the controls on the tv (HDMI 2). If Opengl is explicitly defined, it works as it should. Here is a picture.
