It has come to our attention that emulator support for Skyline is being worked on by both Ryujinx and Yuzu.
First, I'd like to thank both teams for their interest in getting ARCropolis running on their respective emulator. While it appears that the support is intended for Skyline as a whole, it clearly seems that the major reason behind it is running ARCropolis.
We sadly have not been informed ahead of time before a usable release was shared to the public and could not take any measure to get ready for it, be it code related changes or extra documentation. That means any issue that could've been worked around (if any) is unattended for the time being.
Our stance on the matter is that our goal was (and remains) for ARCropolis to work on actual hardware, within the restrictions of the operating system of the Nintendo Switch.
While we will not actively stop any attempt at running ARCropolis on emulators, we also:
Won't be going out of our way to support it
Won't cancel or offer alternatives to ARCropolis features that do not work out of the box (except if the change is trivial to test and implement and does not negatively impact said feature OR comes from us abusing incorrect behavior from the OS)
Won't distribute separate builds with emulator-compliant changes
It is definitely a possibility that future updates might break emulator compatibility by implementing a feature not currently supported by emulators (If any of you guys are reading this, future plans include custom exception handler, custom nn::fs filesystem implementation, plugin-to-plugin FFI through API and debug savedata usage).
If that happens, feel free to use a slightly older build if available, but do not open an issue on this repository about it. Please politely report the issue to the appropriate maintainers for the emulator of your choosing.
Please also note that any issue that is not also present on actual hardware (read: on a modded Nintendo Switch with a legitimate cartridge or digital copy, running ARCropolis) will be ignored and closed.
