Instead of using a single title that is sometimes a combination of regional variants, the US title or an arbitrary romanization or translation of a Japanese title, storing titles per region and allowing users to choose one to display by default could make it easier to locate certain titles or differentiate between similar ones (e.g. Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels, a.k.a. Super Mario Bros. 2, vs. Super Mario Bros. 2, a.k.a. Super Mario USA).
A first step could be supporting the three largest regions: North America, Europe and Japan, using canonical titles (i.e. no romanization of Japanese titles), and defaulting to NA -> EU -> JP titles based on availability. However, unofficial titles cannot be avoided due to fan translations. I suggest allowing unofficial titles as replacements for nonexistent canonical titles.
