I'm curious why the class cl_osql_replace is being suggested and not cl_osql_test_environment?

The Open SAP Course introduces cl_osql_test_environment and their seem to be lots of blogs related to cl_osql_test_environment.
Is there a reason to prefer cl_osql_replace?

I don't think there's a good reason, and like you seem to imply, I believe cl_osql_replace should be dropped.

Correct, cl_osql_test_environment is the latest and greatest.
