• does not require users/administrators to do business with any specific closed-source vendor or service provider
• allows users/administrators to extend/modify the functionality of the system

SWOT 🧭

Strengths 💪

• Modular architecture of autogpt theoretically allows substitution of components and providers
• Plugin system allows adding functionality to the agent

Weaknesses 🚧

• AutoGPT’s prompts are currently only optimized for and tested with OpenAI’s LLMs
• Plugin system sorely needs revision

Opportunities 🚀

• Various vendors have expressed interest in contributing/maintaining client components to the project

Threats ⚠️

• Support for more model providers would probably require manually writing and maintaining tailored prompts, a considerable maintenance burden

• Decouple thoughts generation from function call generation #6947

• R&D proposal for new plugin interface(s)
  • Take inventory of which plugin endpoints are currently being used by plugins
  • Take inventory of plugins & assort them into categories
    • plugins that only add commands
    • plugins that do other things than adding commands
  • Draft one or more narrowly scoped plugin interfaces
  • Write up a proposal and post it in a discussion
• Amend PromptStrategy class to allow specifying compatible models in order of preference
