Fixed the issue by creating an account manually (not via the microsoft button) via this url:
https://account.specflow.org/Identity/Account/Register?returnUrl=%2F

Thanks @sudgarre and @mpgalo!

Just want to document the steps here for anyone who ran into the issue.

  1. Register the account via the link https://account.specflow.org/Identity/Account/Register?returnUrl=%2F. You will get a Welcome page when done.
  2. Open the NotActivatedYet link when you try to run the test
  3. Click Sign in with Microsoft
  4. You should get a page with "Welcome to SpecFlow+ Runner!". You can now use SpecFlow+ Runner to run the tests.

I would advised all to not use Specflow+ Runner as its currently not being supported or developed - migrate to MsTest or Nunit
