The mission of the S1500 project is to preserve knowledge, cultural and technological heritage, and historic materials, including but not limited to hardware, software, and documentation, relating to the S1500-series of computer systems produced by Texas Instruments, and later distributed as the HP 9000 Series 1500 by Hewlett-Packard.
This repository exists solely for the socially beneficial purposes of scholarship, historic preservation, research, and education.
In cases where the ownership of third party materials (including but not limited to currently commercially-available software and legacy software which cannot be obtained in the commercial marketplace) can be determined, the S1500 project contributors engage with these owners to ensure that their rights are respected.
In cases where materials have been donated, all use and distribution of these materials and related preservation activities are undertaken in light of the terms of donor agreements, which may limit reuse, redistribution, and access.
All materials within this repository are distributed without cost, AS IS, and without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including, but not limited to, the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
The project contributors make no warranty or representation regarding the accuracy, currency, completeness, authenticity, reliability, or usefulness of any materials, including any software, contained within this repository.

The S1500 project contributors closely follow the practices documented within the Code of Best Practices in Fair Use for Software Preservation and the Statement of Best Practices in Fair Use of Collections Containing Orphan Works for Libraries, Archives, and other Memory Institutions as published by The Center for Media & Social Impact, and Orphan Works: Statement of Best Practices as published by the Intellectual Property Working Group of The Society of American Archivists.
