When you are looking at your squad in the squad screen you cant tell who is the actual sl. Of course you can see if smbdy has the sl kit but the sl should also get a small icon in addition.
This is usefull if the actual sl has a disco and wants to communicate who has to perform the promote action.

This should be done in the upcoming iterations. II guess it is very crucial for communication
