Unlike Hacker News, in VHDL News the sorting strategy is very simple:

  • Entries in categories Show, Articles, Tools and Cores are published in their corresponding section.
  • Entries in category News are published in section Past.
  • Entries in each section are sorted chronologically (by creation date/time).
  • Currently, all the entries from any of the categories are shown in the index, chronologically too.

In the future, it would be desirable to implement better heuristics to decide what content to show in the index and how to sort it. For example:

  • News might be shown in the index for a while, and then moved to Past.
  • A score can be computed, based on the number of reactions, comments, reactions to the comments, recent updates, views...
